Haven's Backstory

Haven Eclipse was inspired by the floating island in the GoRILLaZ music video 'El Manana'. I thought it looked abstract, like how my thoughts usually are and decided to create my own floating world for me to escape to. So I built myself a floating island in the middle of a endless sky with a big house, lots of green grass, trees, a couple wild flowers doted here and there. The house had a empty sort of feeling to me, as if more people were meant to be there. But since I don't like really interacting with people I was okay with it, until I wasn't satisfied with the simple floating island. So I started building out and slightly up. Soon the island grew in size, the house was made even larger, surrounded by a thick forest which parted enough to see a large lake not to far away. In the forest quite a distance from the house I built a red and white windmill like the one in El Manana with a cemetery a few feet behind it in closed in a tall black iron fence. I know it's weird to put a cemetery in when no one lived on the floating island but me, however all my lost characters and ideas went into the cemetery. I also added a nice mountain rage to remind me of the mountains within a few hours driving distance of where I live. It was now impossible to walk from one end of the island to the other in a few moments. To span the whole island would take days depending on which way you went. On the other side of the mountain rage which I called Mount Briggs after the mountains in Fullmetal Alchemist was more forest that slowly became a beach, a large body of water sat out right on the edge of the beach, giving a wonderful view of the sunset in the evening. Despite the fact that the water dropped off a cliff into the sky there was never less water and the waves were always gentle against the sand. Unless it was a windy day the water would never go all the way up to the grass. I guess this is what God must have felt like when he created everything, just couldn't stop creating. Accompanied with a range of GoRILLaZ music I set out inhabiting the island with different creatures, both real and fictional. In a thick part of the forest in a bowl like area in the middle of Mount Briggs was the Pokemon forest, where all my Pokemon ran free. I still couldn't stop, I felt the need to finally add people onto the island. As more and more characters started to appear I slowly disappeared into only a voice, not really able to physically touch my island anymore. My favourite characters started to fill the house I use to live in, other characters I had created moved into small villages I created around the island. With a cool climate almost year round with nice warm days and some snowy winters I decided the island as  whole was finished, but not yet the house I created in the beginning. I always liked the Medieval and Victorian styled mansions and started to reconstruct the house around that set. I created a ridiculously huge library and long large hallways, along with bedrooms designed and decorated to my liking. If I had a mansion it would be my dream mansion, though not my dream home. I created my dream house near Sunset Drop, the beach, for when I would come to my island physically. Anything was possible on my island, with few limitations on what you could do. Still it felt incomplete for some strange reason. I realized that I was missing my surreal family, the Shorts Crew. Sometimes before and after the chapters of my stories I would put a humorous dialogue based short with the same characters over and over again. White Wing, Neofreak, Logan, and the three other regulars who didn't show as much Jake, Tristan and Wolf where my humour outlets and nothing was compete without them. I moved my zany family from the old home in my Acer and USB drive to the house I named Main House to distinguish it to the other buildings I had created. I was finished, Haven Eclipse had been finished.
